Artist Notes: The 5 paintings in this series were taken directly from fashion and anatomy drawings in my 2006-2007 sketch book. I like to keep a collection of fashion and advertising model photos from magazines like Elle and Vogue and then work out new design ideas or practice anatomical structures over photo copies of them in a "paper doll cut out" kind of way. I was also listening to the Rolling Stones album "Some Girls" in a constant loop in my car during this time. On the title track Mick sings about all the types of girls he dates and it just seemed so perfect that I had five girls. That coupled with my recent celebrity encounter with Ron Wood at Micheals after the Shine a Light screening made it so I could'nt resist. Plus the sound of this album is so "New York City". It gets me going to create some gritty, sexy new stuff everytime I hear it. Each girl has a different hair style, color and fashion sense like the beauty shop advertising that inspired the original Some Girls cover art. It was even more appropriate that I got a chance to show them for the first time at Destination Gallery on Little West 12th Street in the Meat Packing District (MPD). Destination mixes art, clothing and jewelry seamlessly and getting a chance to show there previously had influenced me tremendously.
